The have been rumours for a long time that Primark may open a store in Bluewater and now the retail company have finally confirmed that their new store is set to open in 2019. There has not been an official confirmation but Primark is expected to take over the unit which is currently occupied by Early Learning Centre on Upper Thames Walk.
If this does happen then it is rumoured that, as has happened with other stores in the company, the Early learning Centre will move downstairs and operate from within the large Mothercare store on Lower Thames Walk.
Both Primark and Bluewater have confirmed that the new Primark store will open at some point in 2019 but there have been no comments on how many new jobs may be created.
The Bluewater shopping center has seen a number of new stores arrive recently. This has included high profile names such as Kate Spade, Neal's Yard Remedies and Missguided plus a Coach store is due to open in autumn 2018. Bluewater appears to have become the location of choice for designer brands that want to open their first store outside London.
The arrival of a high street brand such as Primark could be seen as a departure from this trend towards opening luxury brands but a Primark store has been expected to move into Bluewater shopping center for some time. A Bluewater spokesman stated that the evolution of Bluewater is a constant process with the introduction of new and different brands designed to offer a distinctively new experience to shoppers.
Bluewater are clearly looking to appeal to all tastes.
