Liverpool : New bars, shops and restaurants due to open before Christmas

With just weeks remaining before this year’s round of Christmas parties begin in earnest, new businesses in Liverpool are putting the final touches to their premises.

New bars, shops, and restaurants all want to get the doors open in time for the Christmas festivities.

Only Fools Bar

It seems the love for Only Fools and Horses stretches much further than the Watford Gap. In Liverpool’s old Circo building on Seel Street, the Only Fools Bar is set to open in early November. Based on the iconic TV series, the bars will be decorated with Only Fools memorabilia including a working Nags Head, and a Reliant Robin you can enjoy a pint in. A pre-opening party has been pencilled in for the 31st October, with a host of the stars look-alikes expected to give the bar an even more authentic TV location feel.

Barbie Shop

If you thought Barbie was a toy of the past, think again. After Barbie crashed the dolls party in 1959, generations of young girls, and later boys, grew up with the latest must-have Barbie or Ken on their Christmas wish list. Now, nearly 60 years later, the first of the UK’s Barbie Shops opened its doors on Upper South John Street, Liverpool 1, on October 8th. The shop is scheduled to be open for just six weeks, so if Barbie is your kids thing, pencil it in for a visit before mid- November.

Istanbul BBQ

Having opened his first Istanbul BBQ in Woolton, in 2015, owner Guven Serce has decided to spread his wings, by opening a second restaurant and bistro at Allerton Road, Allerton. The old Indian Aroma restaurant has received a major make-over, and it is believed the restaurant will open in the next few weeks, although a firm date is yet to be fixed. With his popular Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine, and signature dishes of Beef Istanbul Burger, Sarma Dolma, and Blue Lagoon Salad already on the menu, the Allerton Istanbul BBQ has over 3,000 Instagram followers, all waiting for the opening date of the new venue.

14 Bar and Grill

Although Liverpool is already awash with some of the UK’s favourite bars, clubs, shops and restaurants, there is always room for another. Originally planned to open 12 months ago, the 14 Bar and Grill restaurant has finally opened its doors. Situated on the 14th floor of the Daniel House Apart-hotel on Trinity Road, Bootle, it boasts one of the best views across the city’s skyline from its rooftop terrace. With over 200 covers, the bar specialises in brunches, afternoon teas, rotisserie chicken, a small-plate tasting menu, and homemade dishes. All accompanied by a comprehensive selection of the latest cocktails, wines, spirits and beers.
