Times have been tough over the past years for Habitat. The company has deepened a several million pound deficit since 2008 but, thanks to the support of the Home Detail group, Habitat has survived and can even begin to plan for a better future. A few days ago, Habitat has lifted the veil on the fist part of the very ambitious refurbishment project of its flagship in London.
Clare Askem, Managing Director of Habitat, stated about this 32 years old London store: “Tottenham Court Road is our largest store project to date and marks a key milestone for Habitat on today’s British high street. As we invest and evolve the Habitat brand in a digital space we also recognise the importance of building on our in-store experience by creating immersive, engaging stores that reflect our mission to bring unique design with personality to everyone.”
Habitat's flagship store has a total surface of 25,000sq ft but the first phase of its renovation started with the 17,000sq ft basement. It's been completely redesigned with dedicated departments: cookshop, gallery, lighting, furniture... It also includes a new fitted kitchen studio and large video walls. You can visit Habitat's remodeled basement at 196-199 Tottenham Court Road London.
