E L James's "Fifty Shades of Grey" trilogy is still being talked about. Following the announcement of a film adaptation and casting chosen for a release in July 2014, the author has launched two bottles of red and white wine to warm up her readers' winter evenings.
"Wine plays an important role in Fifty Shades of Grey, reflecting the sensuality that pervades every encounter between Anastasia and Christian", explains the author on the Fifty Shades Wine website. "I've always had a penchant for good wine, so helping to create the blends Red Satin and White Silk felt like a natural extension of the Fifty Shades Trilogy". To enhance the atmosphere, each bottle is stamped with the mantra of Christian Grey, "You are mine".
The red wine, Red Satin, is a blend of Petite Syrah and Shiraz grapes, with notes of black cherry, cocoa powder, caramel, vanilla, leather and cloves. The white wine, White Silk looks to Eastern France for its grape varieties, with a blend of Gewürztraminer and Sauvignon with notes of lychees, honey and hard caramels. Only available in the USA, each bottle is sold on the e-shop for 17.99 dollars (around 13 euros).
Another fantasy in the world of wine: the Sucette (lollipop) range by Haussmann Famille. To diversify its range, four aromatized wines have been developed to attract young clients: white and rosé with passion fruit and rosé grapefruit. Whilst this type of wine has been spreading on the shelves for the past three years, the company distinguishes itself with its latest product, 'Rouge Sucette' ('red lollipop') made of 25% sugar and cola flavouring, for a result similar to the Spanish cocktail, "kalimoxto". In the same spirit, the Winestar Company sells AOC wine in cans.
