Whilst several similar establishments have already opened in the United States, Germany has just welcomed its first luxury grocery store for cats and dogs. Located in the upscale neighbourhood of Grunewald in Berlin, "Pets Deli" offers dietary and gastronomic menus for our four legged friends. Every day, Katharina Warkalla concocts dishes based on meat, vegetables and starches. More than just a shop owner, the animal dietician also provides nutritional advice for owners, while their pets taste the latest arrivals.
The menu also includes small cakes, seasonings such as salmon oil and pieces of kangaroo or beef. "The meat is the same quality as humans would eat", confides David Spanier, the Director of "Pets Deli" to the Le Monde newspaper. On the other side of the Atlantic, "Woody's Pet Food Deli" offers different pieces of meat from 400 to 2000 grams. Consumers can taste bison, deer or even elk. As for prices, the clients need to spend no less than 28.95 dollars for two kilos of lamb. In other words, Max had better eat his dinner.
