Belfast is the capital city of Northern Ireland. The name Belfast means mouth of southern sandbanks in reference to the river (Lagan) on which the city is built. It is the largest city in Northern Ireland and only second to Dublin in the whole of Ireland.  Naturally, the city is a prime location for the shipping trade since it is built on a river and surrounded by low hills.
