Balenciaga also have representation in department stores, but with Sloane Street they will have a large 4,390 square feet store, set out over two stories, to fully stock their luxury clothing and accessories. Previously home to an Ermenegildo Zegna store, customers visiting the new Balenciaga boutique on Sloane Street will be met with a stark, utilitarian inspired retail store design.
The distinctive design of the new Balenciaga store is industrial, yet futuristic in appearance. It portrays the “retail warehouse” concept of creative director Demna Gvasalia and consists of metal shelving, cabinets and suspended conveyor rails to showcase their products. Modular ottomans are spaced around the store, while large floor to ceiling mirrors enhance the feeling of industrial space. Aqua coloured carpeting offers a stark contrast to the metallic greys of the units, all lit by LED bars and ceiling panel lamps. The Sloan Street store will offer a full range of Balenciaga’s women's and men’s clothing, bags, accessories, shoes and more.
Formed by Cristobal Balenciaga in 1917 in San Sebastian in Spain, the company is now owned by the French company Kering. With a strong global presence, Balenciaga are well represented in many major cities including Paris, New York, Berlin, Doha and Tokyo. Now with the opening of their second London store, UK customers will have even more opportunity to experience their luxury designer clothing and accessories. London is known for the volume and variety of shops and, similar to Paris and New York, this shopping experience attracts people from all around the world.
To commemorate the launch of their new store in Sloane Street in London, Balenciaga produced thirty customised leather shopping tote bags. Printed with “London” branding, the limited edition tote bags were offered at £823. From New York to London, Balenciaga are providing luxury fashion to customers worldwide. It follows a trend in London with a number of other fashion outlets having seen Sloane Street as the ideal location to open stores, including Fendi, Armani and Versace, with Burberry due to follow. It all adds to the choice for consumers at this particular end of the fashion market.
