I am a club card holder. About 12 30pm I went into Knaresborough Tesco for my shopping and when I came to pay there was only one young man on the till. The
pakistani assistant....
smiled or said anything polite and then mumbled the price. (I am not deaf!)
I asked with please for him to repeat the price and when I was getting my money out of my shopping bag to pay he was tapping his nails impatiently on the lid of the till. I gave him my club card and then when I was looking for the money to pay him he continued tapping on the lid of the till, even more loudly than before. I am not old and I was not being a long, long time. I remember the last time he served me he was arrogant "clever"
a while ago. Does he like women? So as I left the shop I told him I thought he had been rude and he asked in the "clever" way "Have I?"
I said please and thank you, and I know how to behave. I worked in a shop for sixteen years and am doing shop work at the present! I think this young man needs to have a lot more training.
In contrast there is a really nice woman who often colours her hair. She is kind, she is friendly and patient and chats while she is ringing in the shopping. She often works late afternoon/ early evening and is Tesco's star assistant!
Why do you want to know whether the customer is a man or a woman? Does it make a difference to how the above remarks are handled?
