We have shopped daily in the Portishead branch of Waitrose for at least the past six years, possibly more, because our granddaughter whom we took to school each day attended Portishead Primary School nearby. We have always until now been very happy with everything in the store and the partners have almost become our second family. However, for the past few weeks the availability of products and service at the check-out has fallen from its previous high standard. For several weeks now there has been no fresh bread at the bakery counter and we have resorted to using Lidl next door for our bread, hoping that the situation was perhaps due to the usual baker being on holiday or similar and that it was only temporary. Today at 8.50, several weeks on, there was still no fresh bread and on enquiring we were told that it would be a further ten minutes. Another customer was making a similar enquiry and was equally unhappy. In addition to no bread being available, service at the checkouts has also been very poor. Some mornings there is only a 'baskets only' till open and people have had to queue there with trolleys - not easy for unloading a large shop in such a confined space and not helpful for people behind waiting to be served who have baskets only. It is not always easy or suitable to use the self-check tills - for example if you have money-off vouchers, you still have to await an assistant. When mentioning our complaints to senior partners on the floor, we have been met with platitudes and unsatisfactory explanations. We have tolerated the situation for several weeks now and we found today others who were complaining of similar issues and who, like ourselves, were seriously considering swapping allegiance to the local Sainsbury's. For ourselves, as our granddaughter no longer attends Portishead Primary School, we are no longer tied to the Waitrose location and we could easily shop at Sainsbury's - possibly with considerable savings in spending also. On a second issue, we find your 'offers' totally confusing and somewhat frustrating. This morning, there were four different offers on minced beef, all of which led to complete bafflement and needed considerable mathematical skill to work out which you actually wanted to buy. One offer (5% fat) was for 400grams at three for ten pounds; a second offered 10% fat but 454 at two for five pounds; Aberdeen minced beef was offered 400 grams at two for seven pounds and a further 'lower price' offer was for 454 grams of minced beef (presumably not Aberdeen Angus and higher fat content) was on sale at £2.80 for 454 grams. Confused or what? Yes, we were! Similarly, small blocks of mature Cheddar cheese were offered at two for five pounds for 400 grams of cheese in total whilst alongside it there was a 454 gram block of the same cheese at its normal price of £4.50. Offers a con? Yes, indeed! This morning's experience of shopping in Waitrose Portishead left us dissatisfied and frustrated, when once our early morning shop was a pleasurable experience. We have now decided that, having raised issues with you, we will give Waitrose a further two weeks to see if there is an improvement and if nothing changes, we shall be very sad to say that our days at Waitrose will be at an end. My husband and I shop very frequently in many Waitrose branches (we house sit all over the south of the country) but always shop in Portishead Waitrose when at home. As a comparison to other Waitrose branches, Portishead provides the best customer service we have experienced anywhere. The staff are always helpful, polite and courteous and nothing is too much trouble for them. This is not always the case in other Branches. We would like to thank the staff at Portishead Waitrose and we will continue to enjoy our shopping experiences there.

Very cheesed off. Paid by debt card = for 2 x pairs of mens pyjammas from John Lewis - online = with the free option of having them delivered to Waitrose/Portishead as the cost was over £30.00 . I have a written message to advise me I could collect my paid for items aftr 2pm on Thursday 29th December 2016. I travlled 19 miles that day to the store specifically to collect the items, a birthday presnet for my fiance - and was very cheesed off to be told that despite me proving an order number fr reference and having forms of ID with me, as was asked for, my items could not be located and I had to travel back 19 miles without them, via another store to buy some pyjammas for his gift. Please advise me what has happend to my paid for 2 x products purchased online on 26yh or 37th December 2016? From Ms J Lawrence 01/01/17

I feel sad that Waitrose Portishead have decided to change their parking time to two hours instead of three ! My husband is disabled and in a wheelchair ,we like to do our shop and as a treat he likes a visit to the cafe .He takes a long time to drink and eat . Now we can't manage doing both .Such a shame !
