Naked Wines is an online customer-funded wine business, owned by Majectic Wines since April. With a £20 monthly investment, customers support independent winemakers and have access to exclusive wines at very interesting prices. The most expensive bottle is an Italian Amarone (£29.99), the cheapest is a South African Chardonnay at £6.75. Plus, Naked Wines customers are nicely nicknamed Angels, and there are 150,000 of them in the UK. In addition to an already very efficient customer service, Naked Wines heard the idea of one of its employees: why not enable our Angels to order by text? That how Text for Wine was born.
The service, a first in the wine market, is offered with no additional charge. It's fast, it's simple, it doesn't require a web access and it's an actual human being receiving the text and not a computer that is going to fulfil your order. That means that you can order the exact wine you want, or ask for one that will fit your taste, the occasion, your budget. Text for Wine is still on a pilot phase but it sounds promising and if it actually is a success, the service could be offered to American and Australian Angels too.
